consider the scenario of having ovs on a machine running in the cloud, take for example AWS. I succeded in having it running with ubuntu and ovs 2.5.1 having a L2 network among 2 machines in a VPC on aws, linked to my lan network where I have other two ubuntu host and several vm running on them. So I have my L2 network spanned from my premises to AWS and on prem i use KVM and Hyper-V as well with ovs. Now it would be nice also to have a version of OVS that could run directly on windows server without virtual switch as you know you cannot have hyper-v on AWS (or other cloud).

Do you think it is feasible? Marco. m.cusinato@reply.com

Hi Marco,

In theory it should be feasible for OVS on Windows to work on AWS or other cloud if it's base would be Windows 10 (Server 2016 or any in the 10 family), because it does not require Hyper-V enabled to have a switch.

I just tested out windows containers with OVS and Hyper-V feature wasn't enabled and it worked just fine.

Hope that answers your question.

Alin.
