free RDP connection

Hi, I'm a network administrator at a mid-sized business, looking for a reliable remote desktop solution to help our work-from-home agents. I'm currently testing freeRDP on an in-house machine on our network, and it continues to give me a message stating that backend is not running. I'm unable to create any connections with the machine. Not sure if there's anything that needs to be configured on installation. Please help
