Hi,

I am currently using cloudbase-init on a Win 2012R2 build and I am getting a strange issue:

Initiall Everything looks working well, I get the password injected which i can use and I am being asked to change it. So, I change the password and , intially, the new password seems to work correctly, but if I reboot the VM, after a few minutes after the reboot, the cloudbase-init scripts seems to reset the password back to the injected one which is very strange. So I lose my new password and it gets back to the old one.

How can I stop that behaviour happening? so if I change the password for the user it stays after rebooting the VM?

Many thanks

I wonder if is there a way cloudbase-init just run once and not every time the VM reboots? That would stop the scripts to inject the password again resetting it back to it's default..

Apologies as this setup does not apply for either OpenStack nor Cloudstack as this is an alternative cloud solution. I finally setup a Task scheduler in windows running a few tasks at the background being one of them to disable cloudbase-init once it has run. So far it seems running well. thanks for your help and support Adrian.

Hello,

What cloud metadata type are you using? OpenStack/Cloudstack?

If properly configured, cloudbase-init should not have this behaviour, as it keeps state of the plugins run (like setting the password).

Can you post also the logs?

Thank you,
Adrian Vladu
