Hello,

In order to reproduce this issue, can you provide the following information:

  • does Windows 2012 R2 instance have the latest updates?

  • link from where you downloaded the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) package

  • link from where you downloaded the Cloudbase Init installer

Thank you,
Adrian Vladu

I refer to the actual cloudbase-init installer download link: It should be something like: https://cloudbase.it/downloads/CloudbaseInitSetup_Stable_x86.msi or https://cloudbase.it/downloads/CloudbaseInitSetup_Stable_x64.msi

I tried to repro your issue and could not on a Windows 2012 R2 Standard. What is the output of the following powershell command on the instance: ls C:\Windows\system32\msv* ?

and to make sure we are using the same installer, can you please share the sha1 of the installer file?
