2016-11-11 22:00:03 +0200 | marked best answer | Windows image creation automation Hi, I am using the github cloudbase/windows-openstack-imaging-tools to automate windows image creation however while booting up the image in openstack I get the below error. "Windows could not parse or process the unattend answer file for pass [specialize]" with component being Microsoft-Windows-Deployment" On checking the setuperr.log file at windws\panter\unattendGC I got the below logs: "hit an error while running "C:\Program Files\Cloudbase Solutions\Cloudbase-Init\Python\Scripts\cloudbase-init.exe" --config-file "C:\Program Files\Cloudbase Solutions\Cloudbase-Init\conf\cloudbase-init-unattend.conf" This portion is from my custom unattend file that I have kept in the c drive of the actual image (using DISM command line) and I modified the logon.ps1 to use this file while running the sysprep: So the first boot seems to be taking the setting from this unattend fle rather than the actual unattendtemplate.xml available in the script. Any idea how to avoid this? I want to run the custom unattend file during the sysprep post booting up the instance from base image. |

2016-10-12 09:11:37 +0200 | asked a question | Windows Server becomes unresponsive Hi, I have couple of windows VM (running on KVM) which becomes unresponsive - ping status works however RDP does not work and horizon console just shows a black screen. The only way to get this up and running is to do a soft reboot from the console. I did it on few VM's and checked the event log. I did not find any error message except few warning for VIOSTOR with event ID 129- Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort0, was issued. On researching further on this event came across certain article where users have faced such issues on hyper-v and VMware(link below for VMware KB) and the suggestion is to change the controller from scsi to IDE. Can this be an issue in our case as well on KVM? |

2016-09-01 13:40:42 +0200 | asked a question | Unable to download and install windows patch in Windows 2012 STD Hi, I am trying to create Windows 2012 STD image using the windows openstack imaging tool however I am unable to update the windows using the PSWindowsupdate module. I have forced the registry values to connect to local WSUS server before calling the get-WUinstall cmdlet. However at runtime it just import the module but does not accept/download/install the patch. It is not giving any error and moves to the next step after some time. The same is working fine with Windows 2012 R2 and 2008 R2. Please advice if there is any additional config need to be added for 2012 STD. |
