Hey Laci, Can you confirm the private network for your instance on Hyper-V works (i.e. can you ping / arping from 10.0.0.5 the 10.0.0.16 / gw ?). After you tested the private network try to set another floating ip to another vm and ping that ip? Do you allow tcp/udp in your security groups? Alin

Ah now I see the problem. On windows we require that you add the tunnel interface to OVS (the 10.60.11.25 interface). Please enable the adapter: br-ex and set the local ip to it: 10.60.11.25.

It depends a lot on your setup. Mind posting the output of: ovs-vsctl show, ovs-dpctl show, ovs-ofctl dump-flows br-tun, ovs-ofctl dump-flows br-ex , get-netadapter, ipconfig, route print -4?

Hi, Thanks for adding the detail information about your setup. To be short the problem is you are missing flows for br-ex, which means it will drop all the packets. A simple way to fix this is: ovs-ofctl del-flows br-ex ovs-ofctl add-flow br-ex actions=normal.

It will allow you to achieve what you were trying above i.e.: ovs-vsctl add-port br-ext2 'Ethernet 2" Let me know if you want me to provide you code snippets. Unfortunately OpenStack isn't my cup of tea, I will try to look it up and provide you an answer after I looked at the code behind it.

The problem is that you need to add more external adapters to the vSwitch so OVS will be aware of them.

For OVS 2.5 you could use the following:

enable_security_group=true

The above will use Windows ACL's (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...)

For OVS 2.6 you have two options. One is the above and the other is:

[SECURITYGROUP]
enable_security_group=true
firewall_driver = openvswitch

This will use conntrack from OVS. Small caveat it does not support IPv6 and also does not support IPv4 fragments.

We are planning to release a full blog post on how to setup and what is new in 2.6. We plan to add also a video on how to set up OpenStack with OVS on Hyper-V.

Regarding the setup that you need for 2.6(if you plan on installing it at the moment), it is mostly the same as described in the 2.5 blog post, but with a few changes. Here are few changes that you will need:

• Get-VMSwitchExtension -VMSwitchName vSwitch -Name "Open vSwitch Extension"

becomes

• Get-VMSwitchExtension -VMSwitchName vSwitch -Name "Cloudbase Open vSwitch Extension"

;

• Enable-VMSwitchExtension -VMSwitchName vSwitch -Name "Open vSwitch Extension"

becomes

• Enable-VMSwitchExtension -VMSwitchName vSwitch -Name "Cloudbase Open vSwitch Extension"

and for the neutronovsagent.conf (for OpenStack deployment above Mitaka) you will need the following lines:

[ovs]
...
of_interface = ovs-ofctl
ovsdb_interface = vsctl

We added an experimental OVN under the installer, bug fixes, support for conntracking actions was added, GENEVE support was added, etc. Feel free to ask any questions.

Thanks for the update! We are currently addressing the native implementation and give you an update when we added it to our installers. Regarding the live migration issue, from the logs it seems that the port name is not set prior adding it to OVSDB. I will try to sync with Claudiu on the topic.

Unfortunately, you will still have to create the 'neutron-ovs-agent' service manually. Thanks for pointing the flaw in the documentation. We will update it.

Since Mitaka you will have to add the following lines in 'neutronovsagent.conf':

[ovs]
...
of_interface = ovs-ofctl 
ovsdb_interface = vsctl

The above will switch from native implementation to exec calls.

We are currently addressing the issue and I will update this answer once it was integrated.
